Patient Centered Design Student Alliance (PCDSA)
The Patient-Centered Design Student Alliance (PCDSA) is an educational initiative that prepares design students for careers in health care design. The PCDSA is a national student-led initiative available to universities offering health care design related coursework. It provides students valuable resources, such as mentor matching, case studies, and access to health systems for site visits that would support academic research. This includes an interface with patient advocates, clinical staff and health care administrators to present the need for design intervention. Students from design disciplines such as architecture, interiors, industrial design, furniture design, environmental graphics, and evidence based design, are invited to join the alliance for access to a network of design professionals serving as mentors. The national PCDSA offers design competitions and job readiness programs to prepare design
students for careers in the health care specialty.
